In the heart of bustling Antwerp, near Kievitplein, an impressive renovation project took place for the Flemish Government. Commissioned by AG Real Estate, project manager Belcotec and Bobinindus Power Systems joined forces to provide the complex with a guaranteed power supply. The result? A flawless installation of a powerful emergency power generator under a tight schedule.

The Challenge: Precision logistics work at height

Installing an industrial emergency power system in an urban environment presents significant challenges. The engineering of the temporary hoisting and transport phase therefore required rigorous calculations:

• Weight class: The operational generator housing had a total gross weight of 10 tonnes .

• Hoisting geometry: To maneuver the installation onto the final roof position, an outreach of 40 meters was required.

• Logistical deployment: To bridge this distance, a 350-ton construction crane was set up on the Kievitplein.

Thanks to tight coordination with the subcontractors, this logistical operation ran flawlessly and within the agreed timeframe.

The Solution: Reliable power and smart design

Bobinindus supplied and installed an 800 kVA diesel generator that intervenes immediately and redundantly in the event of a power outage, an installation that ensures the Flemish Government is never without power.

In addition to the installation of the generator, the future was also immediately taken into consideration:

• Platform engineering: A custom-made grating platform with industrial handrails has been mounted around the generator.

• High serviceability: This platform guarantees secure and easy access for periodic inspections and preventive maintenance in accordance with applicable AREI and welfare regulations.

Despite the tight deadline and complex logistical constraints, the installation meets all stringent performance requirements. Thanks to the transparent coordination between the engineering teams of Belcotec and Bobinindus, the government site is assured of an uninterrupted power supply for decades to come. The end result is a high-quality technical installation where maximum reliability and optimal ease of maintenance come together.
